The without dendrochronology presumably 150 to 200 years old European Beech (fagus sylvatica) already experienced the contemporaries of Karl Heinrich Caspari´s "The Spessart Inn," and is a native element of the species population of the coquina-based quasi-karst area of the Waldsassengau region. This stand-alone tree on the South-bound woodland edge property cleared out a generation ago presumably spent 85% of its lifetime between older and even-aged specimens, and is rooted beneath the Western slope mound. Its South-Eastern tilting has not been caused by wind but by sunlight, and therefore is not a risk to its stability, but in context of the main wind direction West constitutes a status-specific dropping risk for the shed annex, garage and building roof. Hence, regular inspection of the tree crown by a certified tree nurse is urgently recommended.

The tree suffers from a massive parasite infestation in the form of a choke loop around the main trunk section by an ivy sprout (helix hedera), whose heavy excrescence in the crown and constraint of the cambium layer constitute acute impairments of its vitality and stability. Professional removal of the ivy infestation is urgently recommended for insurance reasons as well.

Despite of its high value, native character and long life expectancy, the tree nursing of the European beech has been neglected for so long, that for the prevention of further tree nursing mistakes, explicitly mentioning the conservation aim to possible contractors is urgently recommended.

This European beech now represents one quarter of its location-adjusted life expectancy.

Die ohne Jahresringsichtung geschätzt 150-200 Jahre alte Rotbuche (fagus sylvatica)hat schon die Gesellschaft von Karl Heinrich Casparis `Wirtshaus im Spessart´ miterlebt und ist Bestandteil eines standortgetreuen Artenbestands in der muschelkalkbasierten Verkarstungsrandlage des Waldsassengaus. Das auf dem Grundstück in südlicher Waldrandlage seit einer Generation halb frei stehende Exemplar wuchs geschätzt 85% seiner Lebenszeit zwischen Älteren und Gleichaltrigen, und ist unterhalb der Gefälleaufschüttung im Westhang verwurzelt. Seine südöstliche Schiefstellung ist nicht windeinwirkungs- sondern sonnenlichtbedingt und daher nicht standfestigkeitsbeeinträchtigend, bedingt aber unter Berücksichtigung der Hauptwindrichtung West ein zustandsspezifisches Abwurfrisiko für Schuppenanbau-, Garagen- und Hausdach. Eine regelmäßige Inspektion der Baumkrone durch einen zertifizierten Baumpfleger wird daher dringend angeraten.

Der Baum leidet unter massivem Parasitenbefall in Form eines in Würgeschlingung um den Hauptstammabschnitt anliegenden langjährigen Efeutriebs (helix hedera), dessen schwerwiegende Wucherung in der Baumkrone ebenso wie die dadurch verursachte Einschränkung der Kambiumfunktion eine akute Beeinträchtigung seiner Vitalität und Stabilität darstellt. Eine professionelle Entfernung des Efeubefalls wird deshalb auch in versicherungstechnischer Hinsicht dringend angeraten.

Obgleich hochwertig, standorttreu und langlebig ist die Baumpflege der Rotbuche so lange grob vernachlässigt worden, dass auch zum Ausschluß weiterer baumpflegerischer Fehlleistungen die ausdrückliche Voranstellung des Erhaltungsziels bei der Auftragsvergabe dringend angeraten wird.

Diese Diese Rotbuche stellt derzeit ein Viertel ihrer standortangepaßten Lebenserwartung dar.
